While attendance rates at live theater, opera and symphonies have steadily declined over the years, culinary art appears to be holding firm.

Tina Howe’s THE ART OF DINING features set designers who fill a realistic three-room dining/living area with food and cooking paraphernalia for an exquisite burlesque of contemporary attitudes. Dinner guests include sensual middle aged couple as well as an inept writer meeting his soon-to-be publisher.

Beverly Hills

Beverly Hills is known for high fashion food and lavish shopping sprees. But more recently, this neighborhood has also become home to innovative dining experiences including virtual reality dining experiences, live music-themed meals and immersive culinary journeys.

Crustacean offers seafood fusion cuisine in a low-lit atmosphere with crushed velvet upholstery and floral arrangements – the wagyu or lobster crispy rice Benedicts will not fail to dazzle!

Waldo Fernandez designed and created the menu and design at Wolfgang Puck’s flagship restaurant Spago to feature California produce and ingredients, as well as ground-breaking artists like John Baldessari – known for altering photographs – as an important figure of contemporary American conceptual art, and Ed Ruscha as an innovator of West Coast Pop art.

Il Pastaio provides more traditional Italian fare in an atmospheric, string-lit space reminiscent of an authentic neighborhood trattoria. Generations of families gather here, as do large groups of friends catching up. Sample the charred eggplant dip or beet muhammara while sipping on one of Il Pastaio’s signature cocktails (prickly pear Negroni or Merv Griffin; white tequila with watermelons, rhubarb and mint). And for wagyu enthusiasts Yazawa offers raw as well as barbecued options!
